McDonald’s calorie counter is called the Nutrition Calculator. It’s essentially a tool on their website that let’s you know the calories, carbs and nutrition content of all your favorite McDonald’s menu items.
How to Use McDonald’s Calorie Counter
It’s quite easy to use this tool. Simply go to the Nutrition Calculator page here. Then scroll down and choose a category. You’ll then be led to the list of menu items within that category. For example, under the Breakfast category, you’ll find:
- Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit
- Egg McMuffin®
- Sausage McMuffin®
- Sausage McMuffin® with Egg
- Sausage Biscuit
- Sausage Biscuit with Egg
- Bacon, Egg & Cheese McGriddles®
- Sausage McGriddles®
- Sausage, Egg & Cheese McGriddles®
- Big Breakfast®
- Big Breakfast® with Hotcakes
- Hotcakes
- Hotcakes and Sausage
- Sausage Burrito
- Hash Browns
- Fruit & Maple Oatmeal
- Egg McMuffin® Meal
- Sausage McMuffin® with Egg Meal
- Sausage Biscuit with Egg Meal
- Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit Meal
- Bacon, Egg & Cheese McGriddles® Meal
- Sausage, Egg & Cheese McGriddles® Meal
- Sausage McGriddles® Meal
- Sausage Burrito Meal
If you click on any of these items (on the McDonald’s website), you will then be shown the Nutrition Information of that specific menu item.
But the cool thing about the tool is that you can add several items, so you’ll know the total nutrition content of your meal.
Let’s say, you are ordering an Egg McMuffin but you’re a bit more hungry than usual so you add a Sausage Burrito and a Hash Brown, plus coffee. To know the calorie content of your entire meal, as well as other nutrition facts, you simply add all these items together on the Nutrition Calculator page.
I did just that and the tool showed me these data:
- 760 Calories
- 32grams Protein
- 74 grams Total Carbs (26 % Daily Value)
- 38grams Total Fat (49 % Daily Value)
- Saturated Fat:14g (72 % DV)
- Cholesterol:420mg (140 % DV)
- Dietary Fiber:5g (18 % DV)
- Total Sugars: 5g (4% DV)
- Vitamin D: 2mcg (21 % DV)
- Calcium: 328mg (25 % DV)
- Iron: 6mg (32 % DV)
- Potassium: 720mg (16 % DV)
- Sodium: 1890mg (82 % DV)
I think this calorie counter from McDonald’s will come in very useful for those who keep track of their calorie intake and nutrition. And especially if you eat at McDonald’s frequently!
Is McDonald’s high in calories?
McDonald’s, like many fast-food chains in the US, often faces criticism for serving high-calorie meals. Many items on their menu are also rich in fat, sugar, and carbohydrates. The key to maintaining a balanced diet while enjoying fast food is to be aware of the calorie and nutritional content of each item and make informed choices. Go for smaller portions and avoid extras like sauces and cheese to help manage your calorie intake.
