Simple Modifications for Gluten-Free Meals at McDonald’s
While McDonald’s doesn’t offer gluten-free bread or buns, you can modify some sandwiches to be wheat-free by ordering them without the bun. This includes most hamburgers and cheeseburgers. During a recent visit, I had to explain to the employee why I preferred not to remove the bun from my Big Mac myself. Eventually, the kitchen had no problem preparing a wheat-free meal. The receipt even indicated that “no bun” is an option in the McDonald’s Point of Sale system.

McDonald’s Secret Menu
Curious about the McDonald’s secret menu? The buzz on the internet and social media is all about the hacks you can do with McDonald’s wide array of breakfast options, burgers, sandwiches, and desserts. These creative combinations use everyday ingredients to create unique and distinctive dishes not normally found in fast food restaurants.
Chicken and “Waffles”
This Southern classic from the McDonald’s secret menu pairs a crispy fried chicken patty with the McGriddle’s pancake bun, accompanied by maple syrup and Buffalo sauce. While it uses pancakes instead of waffles, the taste is reminiscent of chicken and waffles.
Snickers Coffee
Order an Iced Hazelnut Coffee and add two pumps of caramel drizzle, one pump of chocolate syrup, and one pump of chocolate caramel syrup. Top it off with whipped cream for extra sweetness.
Hash Brown McMuffin
Combine a hash brown with your choice of an Egg or Sausage McMuffin. The result is a blend of soft, chewy, and crispy textures. Some suggest adding fruit jam for a touch of sweetness.
Bababooey Burger
This combination includes a McDouble and a McChicken. Place the chicken patty between the two burger patties for a unique taste. Adding barbecue sauce enhances the flavor.
McChicken Big Mac
Replace the Big Mac’s buns with McChicken patties for a hearty sandwich. Alternatively, use a McDouble instead of the Big Mac and only two McChicken patties for a less expensive option.
The Monster Mac
Stack six to eight beef patties on a Big Mac bun for this colossal sandwich. While it costs more and can be challenging to eat, it’s a fun challenge for those who love a meaty meal. Each extra patty costs around $2.50.
Poor Man’s Big Mac
For a budget-friendly version of the Big Mac, order a McDouble and substitute the ketchup with Big Mac Sauce. It’s missing the third bun, but the flavor is similar for about half the price.
Ice Cream Sandwich
Order two chocolate chip cookies from McDonald’s and vanilla soft serve. You can even go for an Oreo or M&M McFlurry as the filling.
